| Richmond Basketball Club 2000
The squads have been chosen and are now gearing up for some top flight games before they are off to the "Slam 'n Jam Grande Finale" in Las Vegas. IT'S REALLY TIME FOR THEM TO BRING THEIR GAMES!! After a number of tryouts, both the Richmond Freshman and Varsity Team have been chosen. Club tryouts brought out both large numbers and some outstanding players. The
Richmond Varsity Team recently won the Douglas College High School
Challenge tournament staged at Douglas College in New Westminster. The
Freshman Team also played well even after experiencing some tough refereeing
and injuries to a couple of key performers. The results of the past few
weeks bode well for the RBC teams as they prepare for Las Vegas. |

Brad Thornhill - recently completed his student teaching (and coaching) assignment at Sutherland Secondary in North Vancouver. Brad is a graduate of the University of Victoria (everyone has their faults) and the education program at UBC (that's much better). Brad is also a graduate of the original Kits Nike Basketball Camp, where he perfected the step-back jumper and other strong footwork and fundamental skills. Brad is the only alumnus to have had his managerial clipboard retired at Magee Secondary in Vancouver. Ahman Dhaliwall - a former star at McNair Secondary School, Ahman has just wrapped-up his teaching assignment at Steveston Secondary School. A graduate of UBC, Ahman has coached the Junior Boys team at his alma mater where he was formerly the captain for Coach Eberhardt and served as the perfect set-up man for high flyer Josh Masters.
The Head Coach of the Varsity Team this year is Richmond Program Director Paul Eberhardt. Paul originally was just going to hang in Las Vegas as the team's chaperone but original coaching candidate Chris Kennedy (McRoberts) decided to get married this summer - all the best Chris. Joining Paul on the Varsity Team staff is his lead Assistant Coach from Capilano College, Greg "Bones" LeClaire. Greg "Bones" LeClaire - is a graduate of Richmond Secondary School and has been involved as a coach at McNair Secondary for 3 years. This past season, "Bones" was the lead Assistant Coach at Capilano College where he was responsible for coordinating recruiting efforts. When not devoting all his time to basketball, Greg works for a dental supply company as a sales representative.
